Natural Look
🧙 If you prefer a more natural look or a better starting point for color grading, I recommend increasing saturation slightly while lowering contrast and sharpness.
  1. Set Contrast to -2
  2. Set Saturation to +1
  3. Set Sharpness to -1
DRO: Lv5
🧙 DRO/Auto HDR brightens the shadows and produces an image with more dynamic range.

Set DRO/Auto HDR to Lv5

SteadyShot: On
🧙 SteadyShot stabilizes footage when hand-holding the camera, however, it's only available with lenses that have image stabilization built-in.

Set SteadyShot to On

Step 2:

Autofocus

🦅 These autofocus settings allow you to continuously focus on an animal as it moves around the frame while also giving you the option to pinpoint focus by tapping the LCD screen.

🦉 These exposure settings put an emphasis on birds and wildlife while automatically adjusting the exposure as light fluctuates.

Set the Exposure Mode to Aperture Priority

Aperture: F2.8 or Higher
🧙 Your lens may not be capable of reaching F2.8, in which case, set the aperture to the lowest possible F-number instead.

Set the Aperture to F2.8 or Higher

Outdoor Color Fix
🧙 Setting a manual white balance can fix color shifts that sometimes occur outdoors and produce more consistent results.

Set the White Balance to C.Temp./Filter and adjust the temperature to:

  • 6500K for shade and cloud cover
  • 5500K for natural daylight
  • 3500k for twilight (dawn and dusk)
Step 4:

Brightness

🌓 Steps to make the image brighter or darker.
Too Bright: Darken the Image

Decrease [-] the Exposure Compensation to -0.3, -0.7 or -1.0

Too Dark: Brighten the Image

Increase [+] the Exposure Compensation to +0.3, +0.7 or +1.0
